A long time ago in a galaxy far far away… somebody actually managed to produce a good Star Wars game for the first time since 2011’s The Old RepublicStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order satisfied a lot of fans when it was released in November 2019, with its use of good graphics, a solid story, and several different ways to use the force and become a Jedi Knight. Of course, if anybody has seen the prequels (I’m sorry if you have), you will know that Jedi tend to jump and flip all over the place in order to get too far out-of-reach places that no normal person would ever be able to reach. This game is no different and will have you jumping around like the Red Power Ranger after he’s stepped on some LEGO. Here’s how to unlock the double jump in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

How to Unlock the Double Jump Ability in Fallen Order

Throughout the game, the main character Cal has several different flashbacks to when he was a Padawan during Jedi training. After each flashback, you will unlock a new Force ability, such as Force Pull or Force Push. Frustratingly, you are not able to unlock the Double Jump (also known as the Jedi Flip) feature until you are quite a ways through the game.  During your second visit to the planet of Kashyyyk, the Wookiee named Tarfful (remember him from Revenge of the Sith?) instructs you to climb the Origin Tree in search of answers to continue your journey. It is during this mission that, while jumping on some large bouncy flora, one of Cal’s flashbacks are triggered, giving you a quick tutorial on how to use Double Jump. After this has ended, you will have the ability to Double Jump wherever you like.

How to use Double Jump in Fallen Order

Just like every video game under the sun, you can use Double Jump by double tapping X on your PS4 controller/A on your Xbox One controller.  This will give you a slightly elevated boost, however I recommend using this with caution! This feature is not a crazy over-the-top somersault that will allow you to fly up to the top of your very tall ship and back; think less like Kyle Katarn in Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, and more like Anakin Skywalker in 2005’s LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game.

The Best Ways to Use Double Jump In-game

Double jump will give you just enough of a boost to reach some of those out-of-reach platforms that you would’ve spotted while flying to other planets earlier in the game.  It is also useful in terms of travelling on foot. During Cal’s second trip to the planet Bogano it is a lot easier to flip over the larger ravines and sinkholes that are found on the planet’s surfaces, meaning that you are able to get to your destination quicker.  There is little use of Double Jump during combat, the player is better off with their feet routed to the ground in order to tackle all those pesky Stormtroopers. However it is possible to use Double Jump to vault over any enemy who is attempting to charge you.
