World Builders tend to provide multiple ways of in-game progression. While some of these methods are more aggressive than others, they still provide the effort’s worth.

However, what can you do when you can’t even locate the source of getting stronger? That question has been asked much more than often in Stardew Valley.

While much information in Stardew Valley has been purposefully kept elusive to the player base, not knowing where the Blacksmith is can halt your in-game progression. Therefore, we recommend you start looking for the area as soon as it’s made available.

Having said that, the Blacksmith is only open during a certain timeframe in a day. Therefore, we recommend you make upgrades in bulk, such that your character progression isn’t halted in any way.

Who Is The Blacksmith?

The ‘Blacksmith’ in Stardew Valley refers to a shop that’s located on the outskirts of the city. Clint is the one responsible for running that shop and offers a plethora of weapon and tool upgrades – given you have enough gold to afford them.

Moreover, the shop also sells a bunch of metal and non-metal ores at certain prices. However, much like the real world, these prices are subject to inflation and will double starting from year 2.

With that said, here is the purchasable stock from the Blacksmith shop:

Item NameDescriptionYear 1
Price
Year 2+
Price
Copper OreA common material ore – generally smelted into bars.75g150g
Iron OreA common material ore – generally smelted into bars.150g250g
CoalA rock that’s subjected to combustion. Generally used in crafting and smelting. 150g250g
Gold OreA precious material ore – generally smelted into bars.400g750g

Aside from the buying part, you can also sell certain items to Clint. While the sale price is extremely low, it’s much better than throwing them out for free or letting useless materials rot in your inventory.

Main Purpose Of Blacksmith

Aside from buying and selling, the Blacksmith is generally used for upgrading your equipment to better ones. While he’s only limited to four main tools, it’s still one of the only ways to progress.

With that said, you’d have to bring your own materials in order to make the upgrades. While you can purchase most of them, the Iridium Bars would need to be sourced from their respective location instead of the Blacksmith Shop.

With that being said, here’s what you can and cannot make:

Item NamesCopper CostSteel CostGold CostIridium Cost
Hoe2000g + Copper Bar (5)5000g + Steel Bar (5)10000g + Gold Bar (5)25000g + Iridium Bar (5)
Pickaxe2000g + Copper Bar (5)5000g + Steel Bar (5)10000g + Gold Bar (5)25000g + Iridium Bar (5)
Axe2000g + Copper Bar (5)5000g + Steel Bar (5)10000g + Gold Bar (5)25000g + Iridium Bar (5)
Watering Can2000g + Copper Bar (5)5000g + Steel Bar (5)10000g + Gold Bar (5)25000g + Iridium Bar (5)
Trash Can1000g + Copper Bar (5)2500g + Steel Bar (5)5000g + Gold Bar (5)12500g + Iridium Bar (5)

Aside from this, Clint can also open geodes for a small fee of 25g. Since every geode costs the same to open, the rarity won’t matter when it comes to giving the most bang for your buck.

Blacksmith: Open Hours

Before heading to the Blacksmith, you need to assess whether the venture is even worth it or not. The last thing you’d want is to waste countless steps finding the Blacksmith, only to see the shop closed.

While camping just outside is a viable option, it’s better if you don’t make a mistake in the first place. Having said that, the Blacksmith is usually open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

However, Clint’s Fridays are a bit shorter, so you will see the shop pretty much closed after the Community Center has been restored. This mostly only happens during the winter season, so you’re good to go otherwise.

However, if you’re inside the shop during the closing time, then you will remain in until you’re done with your business. Clint will walk away after 5 pm. However, the counter can still be interacted with.

In order to find the Blacksmith, you would need to head to the east side of Pelican Town. Just take the right path from your farmhouse and continue moving in that direction until you find a bridge.

Simply cross the said bridge and continue until you reach the Museum. The Blacksmith is located just north of there, so it’s only a matter of going forward from there onwards.

Clint’s Unusual Timetable
