Godfall has made itself better via updates and patches and it has some impressive combat mechanics when it comes to a looter-slasher. If you are interested in jumping in then there are a couple of things that can help you out. In this Godfall beginner’s guide, we are going to go over some tips and tricks that will help you out.
Godfall Tips And Tricks
The following are some tips and tricks that you should keep in mind when playing Godfall:
Increase Field Of View
As standard, the field of view is pretty narrow. So enemies can attack you without you noticing. We recommend increasing the field of view in order to see your surroundings better.
Parrying Is Going To Take Your Far
While dodging and blocking work fine, parrying is going to help you master combat. This not only negates all incoming damage but also stuns the enemy for a few seconds, allowing you to deal a lot of damage with counterattacks.
You will need to press the block button at the right time in order to parry. It is also worth mentioning that all incoming attacks cannot be parried. If an enemy has a highlight then that means that the attack cannot be parried.
Prioritize Ranged Enemies And Healers
You will be up against mobs of enemies. Some are more fragile than others. Some have melee attacks while others have ranged attacks. We recommend taking out enemies that have ranged attacks first. You should also take out spell casters that can buff or heal enemies.
Use Orin’s Spirit Vision For Scouting
This will highlight points of interest including optional objectives and chests. Hidden objectives are shown as red beacons and can lead to good loot.
Break Pots And Crates
While some of them are not going to have anything inside, there are others that are going to top-up your health and give you currency. Might as well break these objects as you explore.
Takedowns Can Kill Most Enemies
Takedowns look great and can deal a lot of damage. Most enemies will die with these finishers but if not then you will still deal a huge chunk of damage to the HP bar.
In order to do a takedown, you need to deal stun damage in order to breach enemies. This is denoted by the yellow bar that is under the HP bar of enemies. At times you can takedown an enemy after a parry as well.
Note that armored enemies can be breached as well. This makes it much easier to beat them.
Understand And Use The Soulshatter Mechanic
This is not explained very well in the game but essentially when you use your light attacks on an enemy, you deal damage and you will see a green highlight on the enemy HP bar. When you use a heavy attack, you will shatter the green highlighted part of the HP bar and also deal weapon damage.
This is a great feature that you can use to deal high amounts of damage. So you should try it out and use this to your advantage.
Target Enemy Weakpoints
Bashing enemies is not going to do a ton of damage. When an enemy attacks you will see a highlighted portion of its body. This is a weakpoint that you should target in order to deal increased damage.
Know When To Throw Your Shield
You can throw your shield in order to do a ranged attack. This does have a cooldown so you cannot do it all the time. We recommend saving this until a boss takes to the air. That is when throwing your shield is going to be most useful.
Button Mashing Will Kill You
Button mashing is not the name of the game. There is no cancellation so once you have pressed a button, you are locked into the move. This is why you need to be careful about your attacks and moves. Randomly pressing buttons is not going to get you far and will get you killed.
These are the tips and tricks that you should keep in mind when playing Godfall. You are going to die a couple of times but learning the mechanics and getting the groove of the game is going to help you a lot.
