Sword Art Online: Lost Song may have released back in 2015, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t still a relevant, and brilliant game.

It’s available across PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC as well, and it has built up quite a fan base over the last five years.

One of the key draws of this game was the character creation mechanic, so we’ve put together a guide for how to make your own character in Sword Art Online: Lost Song so that you don’t miss out on it.

How to Make Your Own Character in Sword Art Online: Lost Song

Everyone who plays Sword Art Online: Lost Song begins the game with the same character, Kirito. This allows you to get to grips with the game’s mechanics on a simple level, before diving into deeper character and class customisation.

However, you can customise your character once you hit a certain point in the game. This is quite early on, but you need to kill the first boss before you can actually access the character customisation screen.

This first boss is called Fafnir, and we’ve included a short video below to give you an indication of how this fight will play out.

With Fafnir defeated, you can now customise your character. To do this, head to the Quest Hall, and from there you need to talk to a specific NPC in order to access the system.

The customisation options are quite limited in Sword Art Online: Lost Song, though this is probably because you play a specific character, rather than an unknown and otherwise nameless adventurer.

Check out a brief overview of the customisation options below.

There are nine different races that you can choose from when customising your character, these are as follows.

Undine

The Undines can wield bows, staffs, and one-handed swords. While they specialise in water and recovery type magic, they’re more of a support role for the party.

Salamander

Salamanders are diverse because they can wield both two and one-handed swords. They specialise in fire type magic, and close combat with enemies. To boost make them even more versatile in close combat, they can also use their knuckles.

Sylph

As a Sylph you can wield rapiers, bows, and daggers. They specialise in wind type magic, but use a combination of physical and magical attacks, making them useful in most situations.

Leprechaun

Leprechauns use two-handed axes, spears, and staffs. They can provide support in battle, but they’ll also act as the party’s Vanguard.

Cait Sith

As a Cait Sith you’ll be using bows, daggers, and even fists. Their most useful ability is acting as a beast tamer, allowing them to summon familiars to help in fights.

Spriggan

Spriggans use daggers, one-handed swords, and staffs. Their magic heals adventurers, and can even debuff enemies in a fight.

Gnome

Gnomes use two-handed swords, two-handed axes, and also just use their fists in fights. They have huge stamina and attack power, making them deadly to fight with, but they also have earth type magic if it’s needed.

Pooka

Pookas use daggers, bows, and staffs. They are the only race that can use the special ‘Song’ power, and are well-known as being impressive within the universe for their feats.

Imp

Imps opt to fight with Katanas, one-handed swords, and staffs. They specialise in dark type magic, but balance their physical and magical attacks to provide the perfect fighter.

That’s all there is to know about how to make your own character in Sword Art Online: Lost Song. With this knowledge under your belt you can be sure that you won’t get through half the game with a default character look.
