There are a number of collectibles in Pikmin 3 Deluxe that have made the transition from the Wii U version to the Switch. In this article, we’re going to look at the Pikmin 3 Deluxe suit upgrades. While these are a collectible of sorts, they’re also an essential part of the game. You’ll find these organically as you explore and unlock more areas, but if you want to get them quickly, this is where they are and what they do.

Dodge Whistle

You can pick the Dodge Whistle up in the Distant Tundra. It’s quite a useful suit upgrade because it allows a leader and all of their Pikmin to quickly roll left or right. Once you have the Dodge Whistle, you can do this by pressing left or right on the D-pad. The item is most useful for dodging attacks from enemies such as the Armored Cannon Larva and Arctic Cannon Larva.

The location of the Dodge Whistle is near the Paper Bag, on the outside of Vehemoth Phosbat’s arena. Throw 10 Pikmin onto the bouncy mushroom to avoid getting your captain stuck down there.

You’ll need to watch out with this one. The item is guarded by two Swooping Snitchbugs. Along the route to get to the item, the Pikmin will need to avoid Skeeterskates, Joustmites, and Bearded Amprats. If you use Winged Pikmin though, you can avoid these completely. (simplyearth.com)

Metal Suit Z

This suit upgrade is found in Tropical Wilds, in a small passage. It’s a defense upgrade for the Koppaites’ Space Suits, and lets them take more damage before they’re downed.

To get Metal Suit Z, you need to head past the small bridge near the Hermit Crawmad. Then move forward until you hit a small ledge. Throw a captain over the ledge and move them forward, you should notice the suit upgrade now. Just be aware that there’s a Hermit Crawmad that’s going to get in your way when you try to retrieve this part.

Anti-Electrifier

This is another upgrade that you’ll find in the Distant Tundra. It’s buried the snow very close to where Charlie actually lands. Once it’s been integrated, it’ll negate all electrical hazards that the leaders come up against. However, it won’t stop the electrical hazards from harming your Pikmin, so watch out.

You’ll need to be checking the area where Charlie lands in the Distant Tundra, as I mentioned above. Just after you exit the cave that has the Pyroplasmic Slooches in, go to the end of the path. The item is there, but there’s an Arctic Cannon Larva guarding it. Be sure to put that Dodge Whistle to good use if you have it.

Scorch Guard

This final suit upgrade is located in Twilight River. It negates all fire damage against leaders, but only them. Remember this when you’re directing Pikmin, or you’ll accidentally burn them all.

The Scorch Guard is buried in a pile on the ledge outside the arena that you face the Burrowing Snagret in. Look for an area of the ground that is bulging slightly, that’s where it is. The Burrowing Snagret itself is a big threat when carrying this back, but so too are the Dessicated Skitter Leaves.

If you’re grabbing this item before the Paper Bag has been pushed down, your Pikmin will take a longer route back to the Drake. Try to only go for this item once the Paper Bag has been pushed down. If not, it’s going to be a lot harder to earn.

That’s it for our Pikmin 3 Deluxe suit upgrades guide. Let us know if you get them all, or if we missed one, in the comments.
