Hitman 3 is the latest and final entry in the Hitman reboot trilogy. The games are a retelling of the classic Agent 47 story, and the ending of Hitman 3 leaves them open to begin all over again if that’s a possibility. However, some people are confused about how the game works with content from the older entries. In this guide, we’ll cover how Hitman 3 does come with 1 and 2, but also doesn’t.

Hitman 3 does come with 1 and 2, but you still need to buy the additional content if you don’t already own it. If you already own Hitman and Hitman 2 on the same platform as you own Hitman 3, you can download a free access pass for the content in each within Hitman 3. However, if you don’t own them, you’ll need to buy them before accessing content from them within Hitman 3.

How Does Hitman 3 Work With 1 and 2?

Hitman, Hitman 2, and Hitman 3 are all self-contained games. However, with Hitman 2, you can also play levels from the first game. In Hitman 3, you can play levels from the first two games. In each instance, you need to own the games you’re playing.

Hitman 3 presents players with the ability to pay through locations from older games. This is an effort from developer Io Interactive to bring the whole trilogy together. It allows players to experience the entire Hitman experience in one place.

If you want to play the levels from Hitman and Hitman 2 though, you need to own those games. If you do, then you can navigate to them within Hitman 3. At that point, you can then ‘Get Access’ and the game will take you to your relevant digital storefront. From there, as long as you own Hitman and Hitman 2, you’ll be able to download a free access pass.

How Does This Work?

Hitman 3 includes all the data for Hitman and Hitman 2. It’s been built to allow players to use all the new mechanics in Hitman 3 in each of those older levels. It expands the game massively.

When you download the access pass for older levels, you simply unlock them. They already exist within your game, you just need to open access to each one. Once you have, you’ll be able to play the main campaign in each mission, access all the challenges, and even all the Contracts and Escalations for them too.

PlayStation and Xbox

For PlayStation and Xbox it’s pretty simple to get Hitman and Hitman 2 in Hitman 3. You simply purchase them on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store. Then, Hitman 3 will take you through the process of unlocking all the content.

PC

On PC, making this work is slightly more complicated. If you already own Hitman and Hitman 2 on Steam, you’ll still be able to access the game in the Epic Game Store. Hitman 3 is exclusive to Epic’s storefront for one year, but Io Interactive is making it possible to get all three games on the Epic Game Store within the month.

This process isn’t live at the time of writing. However, it’s likely that you’ll need to link your Steam account to your Epic Game Store account. Following that, you’ll need to request access to the content within Hitman 3. From there on, you’ll be able to play all of the content within Hitman 3 on the Epic Game Store.
