Ever since the first Assassin’s Creed game, there has been a mysterious race known as the Isu behind everything. This is the race who created humanity and foresaw the disasters that are about to befall them. It’s the amazing sci-fi element of the games that most players can’t get enough of. In this Assassin’s Creed Isu guide, we’ll cover exactly who these people are, and why they’re a big part of the franchise.

Who are the Assassin’s Creed Isu?

The Isu are a highly-advanced race of humanoid beings who were active on Earth during the Eponymous Era. This is a time period that’s several millennia before even the most ancient of human civilizations. They are the race that is responsible for the creation of the Pieces of Eden. These are very powerful artifacts and weapons which augment the Isu superhuman abilities. Pieces of Eden were also used to form the human race themselves.

The history of the Isu people is shrouded in much mystery. they ruled Earth roughly 77,000 years ago. A great catastrophe completely wiped them out, and nearly destroyed all human life on the planet as well.

At the point of the great catastrophe, the Isu had been in a decade-long war with humans. The two humans who led this war were in fact hybrids named Adam and Eve. It’s thought that, in the Assassin’s Creed universe, this is where the story of Adam and Even originates. the pair sought to free their people from the gods, which they believed the Isu were.

Within a century of the great catastrophe, the Isu were extinct. Myths and legends carried on their legacy though. Many human religions are even based around them.

Today, the Assassin Brotherhood and Templar order seek to control the Pieces of Eden to avoid the other controlling the course of humanity.

Modern Day

The Isu seem to have been able to predict the future and use their technology to talk to people born thousands of years in the future. This is how they speak to characters such as Desmond Miles through his ancestors.

In the early Assassin’s Creed games, players explored the past, and the Isu, through Desmond Miles. Now though, it appears as if anyone can explore anyone, though it’s not totally clear in games like Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag.

In games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the Isu are explored as their roles as gods such as Odin. The game portrays them as very real characters who lived thousands of years ago, but players only see them in short bursts.

The Isu are able to appear to certain characters, such as Eivor. This is because of a bloodline link and openness to being able to see such things being present in those characters.

To date, the Assassin’s Creed series has remained mysterious about the Isu. However, Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla explore them in far more depth than any of the other games. This gives players a window into these old gods and what they were about.

That’s everything you need to know about the Isu. If you know something more, please let us know what in the comments.
