The Mongols in Age of Empires 4 are horse lords that act like nomads. They move around from place to place and never stay in an area for a long time. In this Age of Empires 4 guide, we are going to walk you through everything that you need to know about the Mongols.
Mongols Civilization In Age Of Empires 4
One of the unique perks of the Mongols is the ability to move around the map and never stay in a single area. The downside is that the civilization does not have access to walls or reinforced outports. The following is what you need to know about the Mongols in Age of Empires 4.
Mongols Civilization Bonuses And Unique Units
The Mongols get +50 Food and Gold from plundering. So when you ignite enemy buildings on fire, you can take advantage of this bonus. Furthermore, all the buildings can be packed and moved to different areas of the map. The civilization starts with the maximum population limit, so there is no need of building houses.
Mongols have access to Horsemen from the start and get Lancers in age 2. The civ can double produce units and research tech using stone. Furthermore, the civ get +10% Food, Wood, Stone and Stone from traders quotes with more traders. Transport ships have double the health and move 15% faster as compared to other civilizations in the game.
The Mongols have the Khan that fires powerful arrows that buff nearby forces. When the Khan dies, the unit will respawn in a nearby village after a cooldown period. Mongols also have the Mangudai unit, which is an archer that can shoot while moving.
Progressing Through The Ages
As there is no population limit to hold you back, you do not have to build houses, so you should start off by training villagers. Have them gather Food and Wood from the start. Build Gers instead of resource collection buildings. These can collect any resource that you want and can be moved around the map.
We also recommend building an Ovoo so you can collect stone resources. Once that is done you can start making an army. Once you have enough resources, you will need to choose between the The Silver Tree or the Deer Stones landmarks. Silver Tree is the one that you should go with as it boosts your economy.
Age 2
In this age, you need to plunder your enemies while making traders to help your economy grow. You also want to start building pastures that will spawn sheep. This is going to give you a steady supply of food. This is the replacement for farms.
Once you have enough resources, you will have to choose between the Kurultai or the Steppe Redoubt. The Kurultai allows the Khan to heal. The Steppe increases resource yields. The latter is the better option that we recommend going with. Note that if you picked the Silver Tree landmark then the Steppe might be overkill. If you do go with Steppe Redoubt, then remember to place it near gold collection sites.
Age 3
During this age, you need to maintain your army and keep the pressure on your enemies by constantly raiding. While you do that you need to continue boosting your economy.
Once you have enough resources, you can pick between the Khaganate Palace or the White Stupe. White Stupa is like an Ovoo but gives you 240 Stone per minute. This is a great option to consider if you want to go with a defensive victory such as a wonder victory.
The Khaganate Palace produces military units every 90 seconds. This is going to help you dominate the enemy if you are interested in destroying all the enemy landmarks.
Age 4
What you do in this age is going to depend on the landmark that you picked. If you went with the White Stupa then setting up defenses and building a wonder would be the ideal way to win. If you picked the Khaganate Palace then you can attack the enemy and destroy landmarks in order to win.
