The Rus are a resource civ and can dominate in the early game. The following is what you need to know about the Rus in Age Of Empires 4:
Civilization Bonuses And Unique Units
The Rus can generate gold and increase bounty by killing animals. The higher bounty provides more food from all sources. The Rus have access to the Knight in Age 2. The civ also has Palisades that have twice the amount of health. The Rus can build Hunting Cabins that are improved mills and can produce scouts and earn gold from nearby forests. The Rus can also build Wooden Fortresses that are improved Outposts that have more health. The fishing ships do not have to return to the docks in order to bring back food.
The Rus have access to the Streltsy which is a unique gunpowder unit. It has a high melee attack and becomes stronger when not moving. Another unique unit is the Warrior Monk that can inspire nearby units to increase attack and armor. The civ also has the Lodya ship that can be converted into any kind of ship.
Progressing Through The Ages
At the start of the game, you need to start building your economy by collecting resources. Take advantage of the gold that you gain from hunting during this time. This is going to help you early on. Once you have enough resources, you can choose between the Golden Gate and the Kremlin. The Golden Gate is like a market but has better rates when exchanging resources. The Kremlin is like a better wooden fortress. We recommend going with the Golden Gate in order to start off with a better economy.
Age 2
During this age, you need to improve your economy and build your fortifications in order to protect yourself from enemy invaders. Once you have enough resources, you can pick between the Abbey of the Trinity and the High Trade House.
The Abbey of the Trinity is a religious building and allows you to upgrade your religious units. The High Trade House is like an upgraded Hunters Cabin that spawns Deer every minute. The Abbey of the Trinity is the better option as religious units are going to buff your army.
Age 3
During this age, you need to take advantage of the religious unit upgrades to boost your army and create an offensive if you are interested in a domination victory. Not only do you need to protect your settlement but you need to create an offensive army as well.
Once you have enough resources, you can pick between the Spasskaya Tower and the High Armory. The Spasskaya Tower is an upgraded keep that has better stats. The High Armory trains siege units at a lower cost and has siege tech. Both are great options depending on how you are planning on winning the game.
Age 4
Age 4 depends on the landmark that you choose and how you are planning on winning. If you picked the Spasskaya Tower then you should go for a wonder victory. Make sure that you have strong defenses around your wonder and that your forces can fend off attackers in case your walls fall. The High Armory is going to help you go on the offensive and take down enemy buildings.
