Étoile is an interesting Villager In Animal Crossing: New Horizons. She’s a normal sheep Villager who made her debut in New Leaf via an update to the game. Since then, she’s gone on to become a favorite to some players in New Horizons. In this Animal Crossing: New Horizons Étoile Villager Guide, we’ll cover everything there is to know about this Villager. We’ll also go over some details that you might not have known about her.

Who is Étoile?

As we mentioned, Étoile has an interesting history in the Animal Crossing series. She debuted in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, but only as part of the Welcome Amiibo Update. This means that she wasn’t actually part of the base game, and made it into the series as a DLC character. In that game, she lives in a mobile home and can be asked to move into town after a certain period of time. This is very different from how other Villagers are asked to move into town. Her unique name is actually the French word for ‘star,’ indicating that she herself is a bit of a star. Her look would certainly suggest that as well.

She was added to New Horizons as part of update 1.9.0 in March 2021. Instead of meeting her out on islands that you can visit, you can actually scan her Amiibo Card and then visit a campsite to get her to join your island. You can’t actually get her to move into your island whilst she’s moving out of another one. You need to specifically add her with her Amiibo Card. This adds her to a very small list of Villagers that this rule applies for. If you want to collect them all, then she’s probably the best one to start with.

Birthday

Étoile’s birthday is on December 25. This, once again, plays into her name meaning. It’s clear that she’s a very special Villager, and is almost certainly a reference to the guiding star that guided the wise men in the story of Jesus.

On her birthday, which you should definitely be playing on, you’ll need to head to her home to visit her. She’ll be hanging out there all day waiting for others to pop by and wish her a happy birthday. By visiting her, you’ll be able to take part in party games, get some cake, and build up your relationship with her by giving her a present. You should definitely do this because you’ll upgrade that relationship much faster if you do. The added cake in your inventory is also extremely powerful.

Étoile’s Personality

As we have already mentioned, Étoile has the normal personality. This means that she is outwardly incredibly kind to all other Villagers and the player. She’ll also perform various acts of kindness for both, making everyone feel a little bit more special. This is the key character trait of Villagers with normal personality types, and it makes them the best in the game.

As a normal Villager, Étoile is going to get on well with other normal Villagers, and those with the peppy, smug, lazy, and snooty personality types. The only personality types that she will probably conflict with are cranky and sisterly Villagers. These Villagers are overprotective and can be easily offended by kindness. This is part of their personality, and nothing against Étoile herself.

As is the case with all normal Villagers, there are two key things you’ll notice about Étoile. The first is that she’s always up at 6 AM every single day. This is a trait that all normal Villagers have because they like to make the most of each day. It’s part of their positive outlook on the world. The second thing is a constant mention of a Villager called Moppina. We know that this Villager is actually just an imaginary friend and mop, but every just pretends that they aren’t. It would be cruel to point it out to her.

Étoile’s Appearance

Étoile’s appearance is based on the characters from Sanario, Kiki and Lala. the pair are twin sisters from the Little Twin Stars series. The prominent color is pink, but there’s some purple wool mixed in there as well. You’ll notice that her hooves are a slightly darker pink, and her horns are yellow. She also wears a yellow headband with a pink and blue star on it. As with every sheep Villager, she wears a scarf.

Out of all the Villagers in Animal Crossing New Horizons, she looks like she’s been pulled form an anime the most. It’s almost odd how she looks so different to all the other Villagers in the game. However, she does match her inspiration. At the end of the day, that’s all that matters.

Étoile’s House

Étoile’s home has been upgraded slightly since New Leaf. In New Horizons, it’s lovely and pink outside with a neutral roof. The door is a light blue that really compliments that pink exterior. If you look closely, you’ll also notice a star outside of her house, this is a reference to her inspiration.

The interior of this home is extremely pink, and is definitely based off of the Twin Stars IP. You can actually see this in the Twin Stars notification that will pop up when you’re inside. All of the furniture in the house is made from stars and is generally star themed. This applies to the giant clock, the bed, and of course the wallpaper and flooring. It’s hard to get away from that inspiration, and almost feels like there was a paid deal to make this happen.

Facts About Étoile

We’ve covered most of the facts that you may not have known about this Villager in our Animal Crossing: New Horizons Étoile Villager Guide already. However, you may not have known that her name translates to “fall in love.” This is a lovely little easter egg that makes her all the more special.

Finally, if you speak to her on April Fool’s Day in Welcome Amiibo, she’ll reveal that she’s the elder of a set of twins. Once again, this is a direct reference to the series that she’s been inspired by.
