Kid Cat is a really fun Villager in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. He’s got a lot going for him, appearing like some sort of daredevil before your eyes, and actually being a Villager that many people want on their island. He’s also a superhero Villager, which is something that not everyone will be aware of. There are a few of these characters, and this is the first that we’ve covered on the site. In this Animal Crossing: New Horizons Kid Cat Villager Guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know about one of the most unique Villagers in the game.

Who is Kid Cat?

Kid Cat is a jock cat Villager in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. He’s a themed Villager, actually named after Kamen Rider, a big name in Japan. There are five superheroes Villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons altogether, and he’s one of them. The others are Big Top, Rocket, Filly, and Agent S. His initial phrase is a reference to the noise you make when trying to whisper a secret to someone. It’s a very subtle reference that most people might not pick up on.

Birthday

Kid Cat’s birthday is on August 1. On this date, you probably won’t find him out and about most of the time. Instead, he’ll be hanging out at home waiting for other Villagers to come over and celebrate with him. If you get the chance, you should go ahead and do the same. This is something that’s pretty important to all Villagers, so you’ll want to make sure you turn up if you want to invest in Kid Cat as a friend. On the day, you’ll be able to play games with other Villagers in his house and even get yourself a piece of cake. This cake is incredibly useful when it comes to building on your island later on. Make sure you save it for when you really need it because it’ll speed you up to no end.

The other great thing to do on this date is try to build up your relationship with Kid Cat. You can do this by spending time with him and basically just attending. However, if you give him a present, it’ll be a huge boost to your relationship, making it easier to become firm friends with him. If you give him a present, there’s a good chance that he’ll give you one in return later on. Just give him a present anyway because it’s the right thing to do when someone’s birthday rolls around.

Kid Cat’s Personality

Unfortunately, Kid Cat has the jock personality, something that not everyone is going to be thrilled about. We certainly aren’t. This personality makes him pretty much obsessed with sports and competing with everyone around him. He’s also got a penchant for bodybuilding, which is all he’ll talk about. If he’s a superhero though, we’re pretty glad that he’s going to spend most of his time talking about bodybuilding. It wouldn’t do to have a weak superhero now, would it?

Jock Villagers love to talk about themselves, and that’s the hardest thing to put in this Animal Crossing: New Horizons Kid Cat Villager Guide because this is a great Villager otherwise. He’s just insufferable when he begins to chat about himself though. He’ll often ask you to compete with him in fishing or bug catching, but you really don’t have to if you don’t feel like it. Just ignore him. He’ll get on well with sisterly, peppy, and cranky Villagers, but he’ll find it hard to get on with snooty and lazy Villagers. He doesn’t like anyone who isn’t into being active, so pretty much anyone else who isn’t a jock is a problem for him.

Kid Cat’s Appearance

Kid Cat looks like a superhero. He’s a cat with a red helmet and a red superhero outfit. Imagine a daredevil and you might come close to knowing what he looks like. He’s also got a few number ones on him, but that’s just because he loves the number we think. His ears and tail stick out of the outfit, but that’s deliberate. Overall, he looks a little silly, but that’s the point. He’s a good looking Villager, but unless you’re obsessed with superheroes, he might just be lost on you.

Kid Cat’s House

The exterior of Kid Cat’s house is far from subtle. It’s a shocking shade of red, even more so than his own outfit. It’s disgusting. Unfortunately, it’s also pretty hard to disguise. The only way you could hide it is if you deliberately built it into a corner and surrounded it with everything you can think of that will get in the way. Seriously, put everything you can think of in the way and cover it up. It’s a terrible house design.

The interior of the house is slightly more acceptable. It’s not good, but it’s not as bad as the exterior. The house is dominated by sports equipment. We’re not even sure where Kid Cat sleeps. Then again, he’s a superhero, so may not need to sleep at all. He’s got everything he could ever need to keep him fighting fit, and that’s a good thing for someone who is meant to be protecting the island. There are also some oil drums and other out of place items in the house. We think they’re just for practice fighting, though it’s an odd choice for a superhero, even one that’s a cat. Maybe it’s just a call back to the fact that he’s a cat.

Facts About Kid Cat

Kid Cat’s name in the German version of Animal Crossing: City Folk is actually a mistake made by the translator. That name, Petra, is actually feminine, but it’s in there now.

It’s thought that the most likely inspiration for Kid Cat is the famous Japanese Tokusatsu franchise Super Sentai. In the US and UK, this is better known as Power Rangers. When you look at him with this in mind, it becomes really obvious who he’s inspired by.
