Ten Piedad means “Have Mercy” in Spanish, which is fitting. It’s what you’ll be begging this second boss in blasphemous for by the end of your first attempt at killing it.

In this guide we’ll walk you through how to destroy this boss, and get past them onto more punishing ones.

Long Range Tactics

This boss absolutely loves to try to keep you at a distance and hurt you. It has an attack that sees it grow vines out through the ground in your direction. (https://colorreflections.com/)

This will cause a lot of damage, and there’s very little you can actually do about it.

The only way to deal with this AoE attack is to get up close and personal, which means subjecting yourself to the slightly more powerful attacks that Ten Piedad will pull out at this point.

Short Range Whalloping

When you’re up close with the boss, it’ll try to hit you with its standard attacks.

These you can parry to get more hits in. Watch out for two attacks that you can’t parry though.

The first of these is a sweep that will knock you off your feet and way back from the fight.

At this point you’ll be lucky if the boss doesn’t doe an AoE attack to try to keep you at bay.

While you’re up close though, the attack you’ll be dealing with most is the Stomp.

This is just what it sounds like. The boss picks up each foot in turn and smashes them down.

This can occur in quick succession, so be quick in your movements to avoid them.

The best tactic here is to dodge through all of the attacks you see coming your way.

Deal damage whilst the boss is looking for you, or readying another attack, and dodge again.

Second Phase

Yes, Ten Piedad is a boss with two phases. You’d be forgiven for not noticing though, because there’s no visual indication that anything has changed.

This phase sees the boss able to spread three or four more vines with its AoE attack.

This basically means that if the attack is coming your way, you can’t avoid it. It stretches over the entire arena.

The sweep it does will also have a longer reach, making it nigh on impossible to avoid.

The best thing you can do is block, dash, and dodge out of the way of all of these attacks, as and when possible.

Never Stop Moving

My advice for this fight is to avoid standing still at any point. Ten Piedad thrives on hitting you where you stand. It’s very easy for it to hit you when you’re not moving.

By constantly running, dashing, and jumping, you’ll find that the boss is barely able to hit you.

However, this comes with the struggle of understanding how you’re moving.

If you’re not used to all of that quick movement, then you might fail the fight because you can’t keep up with what’s going on.

Learn how The Penitent One moves, to the point that you can do it with your eyes closed, then you’ll stand a good chance of getting through this fight.

With that said, it isn’t that bad even if you barely understand how the jumping and dashing mechanics work.

That’s all for our guide to this boss. If there’s something you think we missed, please let us know in the comments.
