When Demon’s Souls first launched on PlayStation 5, it was praised for being one of the most accomplished remakes ever. The game is a faithful version of the original, with almost everything kept the same as in the original, just with a brand new level of visual quality. However, players did find a new Demon’s Souls secret door in the Boletarian Palace which wasn’t in the original game. Here’s how you open it.
How to Unlock the Demon’s Souls Secret Door
The key to unlocking the door is to collect 26 Ceramic Coins. You then need to trade those with Sparkly the Crow in the Shrine of Storms on Island’s Edge. You’ll then be given a Rusted Key. This key opens the secret doo, allowing you to access the Penetrator Set.
All of that sounds very simple, doesn’t it? Well, there’s a couple of caveats to all of this. It starts with those Ceramic Coins.
How to Get Ceramic Coins in Demon’s Souls
Ceramic Coins are a brand new currency that was added into Demon’s Souls by Bluepoint in the remake. They’re used to trade with Sparkly the Crow for that all-important Rusted Key. You can’t just get them in the base game though. You need to go into Fractured Mode.
Fractured Mode is a much tougher version of Demon’s Souls, presenting players with far more challenge than they’ll have ever experienced. Essentially it’s a mirror mode, where everything is reversed. As a result, only the best players can actually play it without dying too often for it to be fun.
It’s in Fractured Mode that you’ll find Ceramic Coins in breakable boxes. However, you need to change the World Tendency to either pure white or pure black. Unless the World Tendency is one of these two extremes, you won’t find the coins.
It’s thought that the reason that you need 26 Ceramic Coins for this trade to work is because of the 26 years that have passed since FromSoftware launched King’s Field.
The Penetrator Armour
Once you’ve used the Rusted Key to unlock this door, you can pick up the Penetrator Set. This armour is worn by a boss in the game of the same name. It’s something that players have actually wanted since the original PlayStation 3 release came out.
The armour can be extremely useful in the right hands. It requires a specific build though, as all armour and weapons in Demon’s Souls do. If you’re hoping to use it, then you’ll need to become extremely good at the game to even come close to picking it up.

That is how you unlock the Demon’s Souls secret door and get one of the best sets of armour in the game. This challenge is one of the biggest in the game, and this is already a very difficult game.
