Our Lady of the Charred Visage is one of the most iconic bosses in Blasphemous. She’s the third boss in the game, which you’ll come up against after the Warden of the Silent Sorrow and Ten Piedad. She’s a large, disfigured face that you can’t really miss. Watch out though, because she won’t miss you with her projectiles either.

Phase 1

This fight starts with Our Lady of the Charred Visage coming into view, as well as one of her hands. You want to look for the exposed pink spot on her head. That’s her brain, and it’s where she’s weak.

Unfortunately this means that the only way to attack the boss is to get under that spot, and use upward slashes. This will be tricky, but eventually you’ll deal enough damage to trigger the next phase of the fight.

The hand is going to telegraph its attack at this point. First it will launch a bright pink beam. This is going to aim for you, and then expand after a couple of seconds. If it hits you, it’ll deal damage. When you see the hand about to attack, get out of the way.

The second attack will come soon after that first one. It comes in the form of large orange orbs. You can’t dodge these, but you can hit them. This will see them fly away, and if one hits the pink weak spot, it’ll deal damage.

If you want to make sure the orange orbs hit the boss’ weak spot when deflected, get it between you and the hand. This will automatically see those orbs head towards the weak point and deal considerable damage.

You can get into a rhythm with reflecting these orbs, so keep an eye out for the attack. It’s definitely better to deflect them than try and push through the incoming damage. Eventually, after dealing a decent amount of damage, you’ll trigger the next phase.

Phase 2

At this point in the fight, a second hand will appear. If you thought one was bad, then get ready for some serious punishment. This second hand has the exact same attacks as the first one, but each one is totally independent. This means that you can have a purple beam attack you on one side, and orbs coming from the other.

One thing that’s important to note is that you’ll never have two hands shooting orange orbs at you. This is where the game is pretty fair, and that’s good because this fight would be impossible if you had to take on two hands firing those orbs at you all at once.

Don’t be afraid to really go for it when you have those orange orbs firing at you. The most important part of any boss fight is dealign damage, and if you successfully deflect all of those orbs, you’ll deal the most damage you possibly can. This is absolutely the best tactic.

Other than that, all you can really do is watch out for the boss’ attacks, and dodge the purple beams where possible. With all of that done, you will have defeated Our Lady of the Charred Visage.
