Bluepoint games has done a phenomenal job with the Demon’s Souls remake on PlayStation 5. The game is a complete remake of the original PlayStation 3 master, maintaining much of what made it so special. However, there are subtle changes that fans have latched onto from the word go. For example, the locked door leading to a new armour set, and now the Sodden Ring. In this Sodden Ring Demon’s Souls guide we’re going to cover everything there is to know about this brand new ring.

Beginner’s Ring

The one thing that most players are saying about this new ring is that it makes the early game much easier than it was in the original. Of course, if you miss it, then the game is just as hard. If not more difficult.

The ring allows for full freedom of movement in water, though it doesn’t remove the other dangers that water might bring. To put it simply, you can walk and run through water unimpeded with this ring on. However, if the water inflicts an effect, that will still spread to your character regardless of the ring’s other advantages.

This makes the ring perfect for level 5-2 in Demon’s Souls. This area is known as the Valley of Defilement. It’s renowned as the most brutal area for players in the game. It’s also the first area of a FromSoftware game to spawn the idea that there is always a swamp level. Those levels are also always notoriously difficult.

This makes the ring very similar to the Rusted Iron Ring of Dark Souls fame.

Where to Find the Sodden Ring in Demon’s Souls

As for picking this ring up, you’ll need to get yourself a Pure Black World Tendency. This isn’t very difficult to do in itself, but it makes the game much harder as a result. You can make this happen by dying a lot in Human Form, or killing non-hostile NPCs, neither of which are fun for a first playthrough.

With that achieved, you need to get to the bottom of Upper Latria, which is level 3-2. This is where the awful Man Centipedes run around like they own the place. Pure hell.

Now you need to take quite a long path to get to the actual location where the ring is found. Check out the video below for the exact point you need to get to.

As you can see, once you’re at the bottom, there’s a corpse you need to get to and examine. It’s in this murky water which looks like it’ll probably kill anyone who consumes it.

Best Combination

That’s about it for our Sodden Ring Demon’s Souls, except to give you an idea of the best combination for this ring. Many players will have their own rings that they want to use this one with. Indeed, the ring might not even be viable for every area. For those locations with lots of water though, I’d say it’s essential.

The best ring I can think of to use this one with is the Cling Ring. This is a ring that prevents you from losing too much health when you die and become a soul. this is quite a punishing system in the game, and making it work more in your favour is a superb strategy.
