Now that you’ve made your way through a few of the bosses in Demon’s Souls, it’s time for a real challenge. The Dragon God is one of the most iconic enemies in the game. Both in the original PS3 release, and the PS5 remake, this boss was the poster boss for the marketing campaign. Needless to say, you should be very excited to fight it. However, you also need to be careful, because this boss has a lot of bite to throw at you.

Puzzle, not a Battle

The Dragon God is actually one of those rare bosses that’s more of a puzzle than a battle. This disappoints many fans, because they’re looking for a big fight with it. However, the battle is still enjoyable, as long as you play it right.

To kill the boss, you need to find two ballistas and fire them at it. This is much easier said than done. The boss is going to constantly be trying to harm you. Whether it’s slamming its fist against the stone right next to you, or blasting fire at you.

Be careful as you run to the first ballista. You’ll need to dodge attacks from the boss. These can be both fire and a giant fist, so keep an eye out and dodge where you need to. (https://treehouselodge.com/) There’s no need to rush. Hide behind a pillar and take a break if you need one.

Once you reach the first ballista, fire it. You’ll get a cutscene, and then you’ll need to head for the second one.

This second one is a little more complicated though. There’s rubble in your way, and you need to destroy it before you can move past it. You can attack it with melee weapons, ranged weapons, and even magic. You could also bait an attack from the boss itself, though that’s the riskiest move.

Once you’ve battled through the debris, fire the second ballista and hurt the boss. It will now drop its head onto a platform where you can attack it. Run there and slash it as much as you can. This should kill the boss, and you’ll probably end up taking no damage.

It’s important to watch out for the boss attacking throughout this fight. It’s eye will glow slightly redder than usual when it’s about to hit you or blast fire. Be sure to hide when this happens, otherwise you’ll end up taking damage unnecessarily.

There’s no specific loadout that’s going to help you get through this fight better than any other one. You could even do it with no armour or weapons. Fists are enough to get through the debris and hit the boss in the end stage. Just make sure you watch out for all the attacks being thrown your way.

Lore

This particular boss was originally a skeleton discovered by ancient miners. They built a temple, and precautionary ballista, around it so that they might worship it one day if it was ever resurrected. Turns out they were wise to build those weapons in.
